The Partnership

Mission Statement

The mission of the Denton Economic Development Partnership is the proactive promotion of an environment in Denton that encourages commercial and industrial development consistent with:

Providing a supporting tax base to balance increasing residential growth
Providing sufficient career opportunities
Improving the quality of life

To remain competitive and to keep up with the ever-changing business climate, the City of Denton and the Denton Chamber of Commerce joined forces in 1987 and entered into a formal agreement to establish a joint Economic Development Partnership. The Chamber's Economic Development staff leads the marketing efforts while the City manages business retention and provides technical and advisory support. The Economic Development Partnership was formed, and through the years has proved to be a successful and beneficial endeavor.

The Economic Development Board was created in 2003 to oversee the activities of both the city and chamber Economic Development departments. This came as a recommendation from a national consulting firm to focus on a new direction for Denton.

The four key areas of focus for economic development:

Downtown Development
Business Park Development
Image & Marketing
UNT Research Park

Areas for targeted marketing are aviation, medical, and research and development.

The partnership is partially funded through an annual contract with the City of Denton. The balance needed to fund the program is raised through additional investments made by dedicated citizens, businesses and other stakeholders whose involvement are vital to our program’s success.
