Schlumberger Ltd., a leading worldwide oil services company recently cut its grand opening ribbon on September 27, 2011, about a year after its announcement to build a centralized maintenance facility in Denton.

When City Council members approved the tax incentives agreement with Grand Mesa LLC of Tuscaloosa, Alabama who purchased the building off I-35W in August of last year, they weren’t aware of the company moving in, but were pleased upon its revelation.

Schlumberger spokesman, Stephen Harris, touts financial advantage due to tax incentives, a strong workforce and the ideal locale of active suppliers as reasons for choosing Denton.

Grand Mesa invested an estimated $28 million in buying, renovating and equipping the building for Schlumberger. The process began immediately following the reveal and was completed, equipped with office accommodations and drive-through maintenance, shortly before the ceremony on the 27th.

The company provides maintenance, remanufacturing and testing of equipment and provides high-paying jobs for many. A Fortune-500 company, Schlumberger is a welcomed addition to Denton and a company of this caliber is worth bragging about.
