    Update on Target

DSC00062.JPG

Target’s 360,000-square-foot food distribution center has been moving along quite smoothly since its April groundbreaking. The uniquely vertical building will be replacing, and doubling the capacity of, the previously used Supervalu Inc. distribution center in Fort Worth. The new facility, which has created 250 construction jobs, is equipped with the latest in automation technology to aid employees with efficient stocking and will house 20 banana-ripening rooms.

The center on 3952 Corbin Road will supply frozen and perishable foods to 235 stores in 8 states: Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Near I-35W, Target will be joining the neighborhood of major leaguers Fastenal, Peterbilt, Anderson Merchandisers, Aldi and TetraPak.

By March of 2013, Target plans to employ 140 people, giving Denton another welcomed boost.
