Public Transportation
Public transportation in Denton is provided by Denton County Transportation Authority, connecting inter-city and ties daily commutes from Denton to Dallas for those living or working outside of the city:
- Commuter Express
Commuter Express offers passengers the opportunity to ride any of three non-stop express coach trips to downtown Dallas from park & ride locations in Denton and Lewisville. Three reverse trips from downtown Dallas will stop at Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s North Carrollton Transit Center, the University of North Texas and Denton. - Connect (fixed route)
DCTA Connect are local fixed route services operating independently in Lewisville and Denton. The routes were configured to provide easy access to many important destinations in Lewisville and Denton. To ride this service, one way cash fare is $1.25, a 10 ride ticket is $11, and a monthly pass is $35. Children 5 to 14 pay $.75 for one way fare and $15 for a monthly pass. Seniors 60 and over pay $.60 for one way fare and $15 for a monthly pass. Children under 5 accompanied by a fare paying adult ride free and anyone that is paratransit eligible with a proper ID can ride this service for free. Connect operates Monday through Saturday. - Access
DCTA offers varying degrees of paratransit and Dial-A-Ride services in Lewisville, Highland Village, Denton, Hickory Creek and Corinth for the disabled and elderly patrons not able to use our fixed route service. For fare rates and specific services offered, call 940-243-0077. - DCTA Rail
DCTA’s priority project for the future is the construction of a regional passenger rail line which connects Carrollton and Denton. The DCTA Rail will meet growing transportation demands in eastern Denton County. The project will also provide a logical extension of the DART Northwest Corridor line that is currently set to terminate in Carrollton.
