Connectivity

Denton encompasses 94.9 square miles and is strategically positioned within the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, only 37 miles northwest of Dallas and 35 miles northeast of Fort Worth.   Located on the Interstate 35 Corridor where I-35 E and I-35 W intersect, Denton is able to benefit all types of businesses from local to international.

Immediate Access to Air, Rail and Highways

Location, superior infrastructure and access to markets, makes Denton a natural place for business and industry success.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), the third busiest passenger airport in the world, is 22 miles from downtown Denton.

Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL), located in the heart of Dallas, is 32 miles from downtown Denton and serves both commercial airlines and corporate user needs.

Alliance Airport (AFW), the world’s first airport specifically designed for industrial and corporate use, is located only 17 miles southwest of Denton in Denton County on I-35 W.  The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway is responsible for the expansion of the Logistics Park.  The 750 acre park, which offers direct rail and air services, is one of the largest intermodal facilities in the nation.

Denton recognizes the importance of aviation in community planning and the impact of aviation development.  Denton Municipal Airport is a master planned facility that will continue its role as both an economic asset and provider of quality aviation services well into the future.

Railway

Union Pacific and Kansas City Southern Railroads converge in Denton and are accessible from across the country, giving businesses an alternate mode of transporting goods to and from their facilities.

Public Transportation

Public transportation in Denton is provided by Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA), connecting inter-city and daily commutes from Denton to Dallas for those living or working outside of the city:

  • DCTA Passenger Rail                                                                                                                

             The recent construction of a regional passenger rail line which connects Carrollton and   

             Denton, became operational on June 20, 2011.  The A-Train will help to meet the   

             growing transportation demands in Denton County and provides a logical extension of the

             Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system Northwest Corridor line.  The 21 mile long rail line

             includes the following five rail stations:Downtown Denton, MedPark Denton, Highland

             Village/North Lewisville, Old Town and Hebron.   The complete schedule can be viewed at My

             A-Train.  Regional Passes are also available for the A-train, Connect, Connect RSVP and UNT

            Shuttle service.

  • Commuter Express
    Commuter Express offers passengers the opportunity to ride any of three non-stop express coach trips to downtown Dallas from park and ride locations in Denton and Lewisville. Three reverse trips from downtown Dallas will stop at Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s North Carrollton Transit Center, the University of North Texas and Denton.
  • Connect (fixed route)
    DCTA Connect are local fixed route services operating independently in Lewisville and Denton. The routes were configured to provide easy access to many important destinations in Lewisville and Denton. To ride this service, one way cash fare is $1.50, a 10 ride ticket is $13.00, and a monthly pass is $45.00. Children 5 to 14 and seniors 60 and eligible for reduced rates.   Connect operates Monday through Saturday.
  • Access
    DCTA offers varying degrees of paratransit and Dial-A-Ride services in Lewisville, Highlanfd Village and Denton for disabled and elderly patrons not able to use the fixed route service. A one way cash fare is $3.00 and a 10 ride ticket is $30.00. For additional fare information and specific services offered, call 940-243-0077.

              DCTA has a Commuter Vanpool Program for groups of six to fifteen people.  DCTA and a        

              third party vendor offer a monthly lease for passenger vans at a monthly cost of $64.29 per   

              person for an eight passenger van and $33.79 for a fifteen passenger van.
