Denton Municipal Utilities

The City provides unprecedented service to its customers and nearly has a 100% satisfaction rating. For utility hook-up and more information about Denton Municipal Utilities, contact customer service at (940) 349-8700.

  • The electric utility department is known as Denton Municipal Electric (DME). DME is owned by the residents of Denton and is not subject to deregulation, which make us Denton’s hometown electric provider. DME strives to maintain the highest quality of service for our friends and neighbors in the greater Denton area. Since 1905, DME's highly trained staff has taken great pride in serving customers with competitively priced and reliable electricity.
    • Limited areas within Denton are served by CoServ and TXU.

  • Water utility is provided by the City of Denton Water Utilities. In 2005, Denton received a "superior" rating from the State of Texas and awards for the Best Tasting Water in Texas, giving us clear indications of Denton's ability to deliver superior drinking water. Because of the high quality of our water, there are no health-based advantages to purchasing bottled water, filtration systems, or any other point-of-use devices.
    • If you are seeking information pertaining to the Industrial Waste Permits for a new or existing industry in the Denton area, you will find all the necessary information at the Water Utilities Department or by calling (940) 349-7529.
