Historic Preservation
Historic designations are more than just recognition of the property's significance; they also serve as a guide in planning for development while preserving the most important examples of our heritage. In 1995, the city conducted an historic resources inventory that identified areas of the city that should be preserved. From this study, Bell Avenue was identified as a potential Conservation District and the square as a potential National Register District. Both of these areas have received these designations since the survey was completed.
