Proposed West Oak Area Historic District

A historic overlay zoning for the West Oak Area Historic District has been proposed within the following boundaries; (1) West Oak Street from 1702 West Oak to 2280 on the north, and 1707 to 2245 on the south; this is roughly from Jagoe/Ave. C to Thomas, plus 3 lots and; (2) Marietta Street from 209 to 404, from West Oak to the intersection with Houston Place and; (3) Houston Place from 2015 to 2232, from Bradley to Thomas; and (4) Alamo Place from 2224-2234 under Section 35.7.6, of the Denton Development Code. The proposed West Oak Area Historic District is comprised of approximately 52.01 acres, currently zoned as NR-3.

The Historic Landmark Commission rreceived the application for historic designation and recommended approval (8-0) to the Planning and Zoning commission on March 10, 2008. The Planning and Zoning Commission received a staff report during the April 23 work session. The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on May 7, 2008 at 6:30 at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney. The public is invited to attend.
