Business Retention and Expansion
Business retention is a key focus of Denton's economic development program. The Denton Chamber of Commerce Economic Development staff continually visit established businesses to keep apprised of industry trends. In many cases, elected officials attend. Visits are followed up with specific contacts and information in response to any questions or concerns that may have be voiced in the visit. The Economic Development staff also work with existing businesses in the recruitment of business suppliers.
In addition to serving as Denton businesses' one-stop shop for assistance, Economic Development staff provide community demographic and other resource information. They sponsor events and activities where Denton businesses can network with each other as well as their elected officials.
Expanding businesses may contact the City's Economic Development office for assistance throughout the expansion process, which may consist of providing information, facilitating meetings with key City staff or officials, or guiding the business to the appropriate City representative.
