Denton passes bulk of code-Rules deal with buildings' exteriors - Denton Record Chronicle,

The Denton City Council on Tuesday unanimously passed the first 12 articles of a new property maintenance code -- a mix of fresh and existing rules for how properties in the city should look.
The articles largely deal with properties' outward state. A vote is expected within months on the last two proposed articles, which would cover the inside of buildings. [more]

Discount Grocer Making Push into the Metroplex
Aldi, a German chain of small, steep-discount grocery stores, said Monday that it plans to open 25 to 35 outlets in the Metroplex by fall 2009 and a distribution center to serve the Texas region.
Eventually, the distribution center could supply 50 to 100 stores, said Scott Huska, the company's vice president for Texas and southern Oklahoma. He said the company, which is privately held, hasn't chosen a site, but an information packet given Hurst City Council members said the structure will be built in Denton. [ more ]

Feldman Mall Properties Inc. proposed up to $50 million worth of renovations to one of its newest acquisitions, Golden
Triangle Mall, at a Denton City Council work session Tuesday.
The proposed renovations include adding a multi-screen IMAX® theater, a food court with up to seven restaurants complete with a live stage for local bands to entertain free of charge, two restaurant spaces near Barnes & Noble Booksellers, and an overhaul of the center court, entrances and seating areas inside the mall.
