Green Jobs Report

The growing demands of the global economy are changing continuously due to increased entergy demand, rising population, climate change and pollution, and reductions in the fossil fuel supply. Both the public and private sectors are actively pursuing ways to take advantage of the "Green Evolution" of today's economy. As entrepreneurial interests and governmental initiatives increase, municicpalities will be able to attract significant numbers of new green businesses and jobs as well as their accompanying tax benefits. The purposes of this report are to establish how a "green job" is defined, attempt to quanitfy national, regional and Denton County's green job totals, and to propose possible methods for Denton to capture its share of the emerging local green economy.
